These are among the top surfing beaches in the world, and are also safe for family bathing. Lee, Mortehoe and Woolacombe are all a pleasant walk west along the cliff tops. You can also take part in the North Devon Walking Festival Ilfracombe Within short walking distance of our holiday home are dozens of great pubs and restaurants – particular guest favourites are Damien Hirst’s 11 The Quay, Clarets, and the award-winning Ilfracombe Tando ori. From our picturesque harbour (less than 10 minutes on foot) you can embark on a deep sea fishing trip, sightseeing cruise or day trip to Lundy Island. Eating Out Ilfracombe boasts a superb choice of eateries from pub grub to fine dining, within a short walk of Westaway Villa. Shopping Visit Ilfracombe's High Street with its independent and individual shops, including The Chocolate Emporium, Pedlars Department Store, Roomers, and Arabesque Dance Boutique. A 20 minute drive will take you to Barnstaple's Pannier Market and 15 minutes further on to Atlantic Village Outlet Shopping. Family days out You’ll find plenty to keep the kids happy in North Devon, including Watermouth Castle Theme Park, The Big Sheep, Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, Ilfracombe Aquarium and Exmoor Zoo Exmoor The spectacular scenery of Exmoor, one of the top Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the British Isles, with its walks, picnic areas and country pubs is just a 20 minute drive.
